Tancili jsme holandana aneb zlatnouci sedesata leta (We danced hollander alias the golden sixties)
First novel by Jan Pasek
It
is a story of young people - secondery school students and university
freshers in the early sixties of last century. Author submits an
interesting and catching witness of how that time young people enjoyed
themselvs, how they were influenced by beatlemania and movements of
small satiric theatres. He brings their feeling of rebels who sucked in
from forthcoming liberalization in era of Kennedy's and Chrushcov's
"handshaking". Most of all it is about love, first contact with sex and
there is not lack of the funny rogueries of adolescents who were "worldchampions"
as well. It is a bit different view on the era that is not discussed
nowadays or when it is discussed it is presented as a dark era. The
children from postwar babyboom had become teenagers that brought to
sixties attribute "golden". Although, in smaller scale it had to be
seen in the socialistic Czechoslovakia.
The book has classic
format A5 and is produced in a solid binding. It has 438 pages and is
illustrated with photographs by a famous Czech artist photographer
Rostislav Kostal.
