The Holy Scripture - The Prophets

The second part of the Holy Scripture - the Prophets נביאים Neviim consists of eight books, which are divided into the four books of the earlier Prophets נביאים ראשׁוֹנים Neviim rishonim, and four books of the later Prophets נביאים אחרוֹנים Neviim akharonim.

Joshua - יהוֹשׁע Yehoshua
 
Judges - שׁוֹפטים Shoftim
 
Samuel I and II - שׁמוּאל א׳ וב׳ Shemuel Alef veBet
 
Kings I and II - מלכים ׳א׳ וב׳ Melakhim Alef veBet

These books describe the period of 850 years, including the conquest of Canaan, its division among the tribes of Israel, the history of the People of Israel at the time of the judges, the stories of the period of the last Judge Samuel and the period of King Saul, David and Solomon, the building of the Temple, the separation of the united kingdom of Israel into the kingdom of Judea and the Kingdom of Israel, the history of both kingdoms till the conquest of the kingdom of Israel, the deportation of the citizens of the kingdom of Israel ordered by the Assyrian king Shalmanaser, the history of the kings of Judah till the conquest of the Kingdom of Judea and the destruction of the Temple by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar.

These four books contain the prophecies of the above mentioned prophets, ie prophecies that admonish and rebuke kings and people for their wickedness and injustice, predict the imminent danger and warn of  the God's coming punishment. Prophecies usually warn the people of Israel, but sometimes also other nations. These four books in addition to persuasion, admonition, advices and sermons, also include explanation of God's Law, predict the future of Israel and all mankind and the comming of the Messiah.
