Squier Stratocaster by Fender Made in Korea (MIK) in 1989 in the Samick factory for Fender USA. These were based on the 1962's models. If you are into the whole Vintage look, feel, and tone, but want it to have some modern appointments so you can actually play it you will not be disappointed. Been playing for years I have owned and played many Strats. This guitar isn‘t like brand new, this guitar has mojo! This is black color with plywood body coated with a nice nitro finish.The finish is as good as any USA strats. The back of the body has some small cracks which upon close inspection do appear to just be in the paint. It's just a decent battered axe that has been relic'd naturally as opposed to having some guys in the Fender factory trying to re-create the finish artificially. The headstock is traditionally shaped. The neck is one picece maple with rosewood fretboard with skunk stripe. Overall, a great neck just feels great. Smoothe and quick, flatter and more bend-friendly 9.5″ radius and medium-jumbo frets, slightly fatter neck. The frets are in very good condition with no fret buzz. I should also mention that guitar stays in tune very well, and that the neck very rarely needs adjusting. The guitar has perfect intonation and the neck is playable and just perfect. The neck fits, feels, plays, responds, without a hitch. Contemporary Stratocaster Tuners Chrome work perfectly and the trem with 'Fender' stamped string saddles is typical of all Fender vintage setups. This guitar originaly has alnico staggered pole pickups and 'Fender' stamped string saddles. The pickup covers and knobs have yellowed over time. They were typical refrigerator-white when new. The volume and two tone pots and the switch, which is 5 way modern type. What differs from the basic vintage ’62 models is installed 5-way switch. The pickups they have a harmonic complexity and depth with lots of vintage punch. They sound nice and full with a wide range of tones. They are very clean and strong and produce those bell-like tones. They also produce some very nice fat overdriven tones. Special attention was given to the pickups. Pickup accuracy is especially important because it gives this Strat a different sound from modern instruments. It sounds great through a vintage style tube amp, and has a warm, narrow sound. The serial number is S913871 and this denotes that "S9" = made by Samick in 1989. It's a nice playing instrument that sounds great. I am always looking for that special guitar. Really nice action and feel to it, makes me want to pick it up and play everytime I walk around.  Components and hand-craftsmanship that the old Korean instruments are so well-known for. A truly playable instrument. This is an example of a guitar that just keeps getting better & better with age. Lastly, to me the bottom line is simply this; if you enjoy the guitar, just play the crap out of it! That's really the important thing...whether or not this guitar makes you feel good. The rest is simply academic.
