Robinson slams treatment of Jol
Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has hit out at the club's board for their treatment of manager Martin Jol.
Robinson is himself under fire after an error in England's friendly against Germany on Wednesday.
However, he said: "When you see how far Martin Jol has taken the club, to then go behind his back to obviously seek other options is very disappointing."
Sevilla coach Juande Ramos claimed this week he had rejected a "dizzying" offer to replace Jol, which Spurs denied.
Robinson added: "The manager has the full support of the players. I think it is very difficult for him. There has been a lot that has happened and what the club has done is very disappointing.
"The players are 110% behind the manager and we just hope he stays as long as possible.
"I think it is known throughout the club the way the players feel about the manager. I think there a lot of players who are disappointed with the way things have unfolded this week."
Robinson believes it is far too early in the season to contemplate a change of manager and added: "To question somebody's job after three games of the season is ridiculous, especially after what the man has done in the last two years.
"We've started the season better than Manchester United, we are above them in the league, but nobody has said anything about Sir Alex Ferguson so why should our manager be questioned?
"It has been difficult not to be affected by things, we see the TV and media like everyone and it is unsettling, especially when we've been settled for the last two or three seasons."
Spurs striker Darren Bent was signed by Jol for £16.5m and has also defended the White Hart Lane boss.
"It's absolutely ridiculous that he's under pressure," he told the Daily Mail.
"He has made a big impact on me already. He's the one that got me from Charlton.
"He's going to have a massive influence on my career and I want to repay him with goals.
"His coaching methods and the way that he talks to you shows he's a top manager.
"He shows everyone a lot of respect, while others will hammer a player if he's not done something right.
"He just talks to you, gets his point across and everyone knows what he wants."
Jol's future as manager was in doubt after Spurs lost their first two games of the season before beating Derby.
Ramos, Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp and Italy's World Cup-winning coach Marcello Lippi had been linked to Spurs as possible replacements for Jol, 51.
And Ramos stated: "They made an excellent, dizzying offer but I'm under contract and my decision is to fulfil it."
Tottenham denied making any offer and said: "No individual was or has been offered the position while that position has been held by Martin Jol."
Spurs were reported to have met the Ramos camp last weekend before telling Jol his job was safe, providing he delivered Champions League football.
"There was not the slightest possibility that I would accept it because I'm under contract. It did not interest me or the club," insisted Ramos.
