Dear Pani Filipova,

My mother who recently passed away has two beautiful hanging tapestries created in the art protis technique. They are by the Czech artist, Jan Halaska. They have been hanging in the same place for years and are in need of a cleaning. Could you advise me as to where I may have them cleaned-or how to have them cleaned? I live in New York City and thought you may have a recommendation for me since you work in this style. You're work is very beautiful by the way.

Dear Mrs. Bromberg,

HOW TO CLEAN ART-PROTIS:

1. Remove the wooden stick from the art-protis.

2. Soak it into a bath with lukewarm water, add a product for wool wash.

3. In this bath we leave art-protis soaked for at least 5 hours, or overnight.

4. Then remove/ clean art-protis twice in pure water. Do not wring / spin-dry !

5. Pass over the straight bar and let it drip and dry.

6. Next, the image is dusted over the wet paper, and then we put back on the wooden stick and hang on the wall.

If Mr. Jan Halasek did not paint the picture, there should not be any problem.
