S01E01 Pilot
≈
Michaela: Mám lékařský diplom máti, to snad není iluze.
Elizabeth: V tomto světě. Ano.
Michaela: Tak možná patřím do jiného světa.
≈
≈
Reverend: Je mi to nesmírně trapné slečno Quinnová. Velmi se omlouvám za to nedopatření. Samozřejmě Vám zaplatíme zpáteční cestu.
Michaela: To nebude vůbec nutné, děkuji. Colorado Springs potřebuje doktora a to já náhodou jsem.
Reverend: Ale Vy to nechápete.
≈
≈
Michaela: Můžete mi říct, proč jste dal další inzerát na doktora, když je to místo už obsazené?
Reverend: Nechci se Vás dotknout slečno Quinnová...
Michaela: Doktorka Quinnová.
Reverend: To celé je věc názoru.
Michaela: Cože? A ptal jste se mých pacientů?
Reverend: Nevím o tom, že byste měla pacienty.
≈
Hank: Dámám vstup zakázán.
Michaela: Já nejsem dáma. Jsem doktor.
≈
Sully: Vy nejdete.
Michaela: To risknu.
≈
Sully: To nemůže nikdo vědět.
Michaela: Já jsem Charlottu zklamala.
Sully: Nezklamala. Dělala jste, co jste mohla. Život si prostě někdy běží vlastní cestou.
≈
Michaela: (o indiánech) Proč se o ně tolik staráte?
Sully: Vidíte toho vlka támhle? Spousta lidí Vám řekne, že je zlý. A je to můj přítel.
≈
Brian: Vadilo by to mamince, kdybych Vám říkal mami?
Michaela: Myslím, že ani trochu ne.
Brian: Dobře.
≈

Michaela: (about Michaela´s father) My mother would say that he'd would spoil me. I would say, he'd given me the freedom to be myself.
≈
Michaela: I have a medical degree, Mother. That is not a fantasy.
Elizabeth: In this world it is.
Michaela: Then perhaps I belong in a different world.
≈
Michaela: My father taught me that different customs, language or color of skin, were not causes for prejudice or hostility, but as I saw real Indians for the first time, I could not reason with the knots in my stomach.
≈
Reverend: This is most embarrassing Ms. Quinn and I want to apologize for the inconvenience. We will of course pay your way back to Boston.
Michaela:That won't be necessary thank you. Colorado Springs needs a doctor and I happen to be one.
Reverend: But you don't understand! No one around here has ever heard of a lady doctor!
Michaela: Well there's always a first time.
Reverend: Miss, there are no respectable single women in Colorado Springs.
Michaela: That's a shame Reverend. Every town should have at least one!
≈
Charlotte: Bein' a doctor, that's one thing. Bein' a woman, that's another and bein' an unmarried lady, that's another. You got enough black marks to get you to last for a while.
≈
Charlotte: (about losing men) Funny, it don't matter how you lose them, the pain's still the same.
≈
Michaela: I demand to know, why you placed another advertisement for a doctor, when that position has already been filled.
Reverend: Now I don't mean to offend you Miss Quinn…
Michaela: Doctor Quinn!
Reverend: That is a matter of opinion!
Michaela: Whose opinion? Have you polled my patients?
Reverend: I'm not aware of you having any patients!
≈
Hank: Ladies ain't allowed.
Michaela: I'm not a lady. I'm a Doctor!
≈
Sully: You´re not going. The women stay in camp.
Michaela: Not this woman.
Sully: You know, the Cheyenne believe that it a woman acts like a brave, she´ll become one.
Michaela: I´ll risk it.
≈
Michaela: (about Brian) You think he will be all right out there, all by himself?
Sully: There's no way to really know.
Michaela: I let Charlotte down.
Sully: No you didn't. You did your best. Sometimes life just has a way of taking its own course.
≈
Michaela: How did you get so involved?
Sully: See that wolf over there? Some people think that it's evil. He's been a friend to me, just like the Indians. 30 year ago, when the white man first set foot in this territory, there were thousands of those wolves. Then the Government put a bounty on their head. Now there's just a few hundred. The way I see it, same thing's happened to the Indians.
≈
Brian: Do you think Ma would mind if I called you Ma, too?
Michaela: I don't think she'd mind a bit.
Brian: Good.
≈
Michaela: I had come to the Colorado Territory to find acceptance as a doctor, but I found much more. I found a home, a new family, and for Christmas, I received the greatest gift of all, the Gift of Love.
